The 108th MI Bn came to Wildflecken in 1983.
It was directly attached to the V Corps.
It's Mission was, in case of war, to interogate enemy prisoners of war. Therefore it's members at least spoke German, Russian, or other languages of any country of the the Warsaw-Pact as a second language.
The Bn had a small detachment of six soldiers steadily stationed in Bad Neustadt. They worked together closely with the 2nd Squadron of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, which was in border-duty in this sector.
The 108th MI Bn was deactivated in October 1991.
